Jawa 500 OHC motorcycles followed on from the interwar Jawa 500 OHV called ‘The Rumpál’ and were the last four-stroke machines with an engine of their own design which the brand mass-produced. Since 1950, they have been tested by racing drivers, and until the end of production in 1958 about seven thousand of them were produced in three types. The first, called the ‘The Snail’ and the Type 01 had a top speed of 135 kph, the last 147 kph… at 28 horsepower.

With any of the surviving production models of The Snails and the Type 01, the Jawa 500 OHC has become today a popular motorcycle, the price of which is rising every year.
