The first mention of corduroy dates back to ancient Egypt, where it was used in the form of a similar fabric. Modern corduroy as we know it today began to appear in France in the 18th century. At that time, it was mainly intended for workwear, thanks to which it gained its durability and practical properties. During the 19th century, however, it spread to England and became popular among both the aristocracy and working classes. It made a big fashion comeback in the 1960s and 1970s, when it began to be worn not only by students and intellectuals, but also by ordinary people as part of casual fashion.

Caring for corduroy:
- Corduroy deserves careful treatment to maintain its look and feel. Therefore, wash gently - wash on a gentle cycle in cooler water (max. 30 degrees).
- Corduroy should be washed inside out to reduce wear and keep its fine hairs in good condition.
- Forget the dryer, it could damage the fabric! It's best to let corduroy dry naturally in the air.
- If you want to re-iron corduroy, also turn it inside out first and use steam if possible. However, corduroy is a wrinkle-free material, so it's quite possible you won't even need to use an iron 😉.
