How to extend the life of your clothes: Modal now takes center stage (
Jul 18, 2024
Comfortable and highly absorbent like cotton, breathable almost like linen, light and soft almost like silk, and durable and functional like synthetic fabrics. But it isn't...
Modal is a unique material that combines a large number of benefits. It's as if it "borrowed" them from all the materials that we love to wear. It is so specific that it is easy to recognize by touch, and completely unique thanks to its subtle sheen. And because it absorbs moisture so well and allows the skin to breathe freely, it has become – alongside linen and cotton – the most popular material for summer clothing collections.
Modal fibres are most often made from beech wood, specifically beech cellulose. This also played significantly into our hands when we were thinking about how to revitalize the BUSHMAN collection! Currently, you can choose from soft T-shirts, flowing dresses, skirts, and incredibly comfortable pants! You will also find a 40% Modal content in our socks, which are not only very pleasant to the touch but also highly durable.

We have already mentioned that Modal combines a wide range of benefits, and we must mention one more important one. That is its relatively high colour fastness. The fabric does not fade even after many washes, and even the famous Modal sheen does not disappear. This brings us to the heart of the matter—the proper washing technique and overall care of Modal clothing. So, do you know how to care for it?
The scent of fabric softener is pleasant, but it does not treat textile fibres well. Regular use of fabric softener weakens the fibres and can significantly shorten the life of your clothes. Fortunately, there are other ways to scent your laundry (and not just Modal) for a long time!

So, do you know how to care for it?
- As you would any delicate material! Just because Modal has so many advantages does not mean that its fibres are indestructible. With proper care, however, they can remain in excellent condition for many years.
- Wash Modal clothing on a gentle cycle at a maximum temperature of 40°C. Always turn the clothing inside out before putting it in the washing machine.
- Avoid using fabric softener, which gradually weakens and damages the fibres. At the end of the article, we will give you some good tips on how to make your clothes smell nice even without fabric softener.
- Modal clothing does not get along with dryers and hot irons! However, it is often part of other materials used, so always read the instructions on the clothing label. As with all materials, steam ironing is recommended.
- Modal clothing is best dried slowly, even outdoors in the fresh air. Hang it on suitable hangers or spread it out and let it dry.
How to scent clothes with Modal
The scent of fabric softener is pleasant, but it does not treat textile fibres well. Regular use of fabric softener weakens the fibres and can significantly shorten the life of your clothes. Fortunately, there are other ways to scent your laundry (and not just Modal) for a long time! - There are special laundry perfumes available, but their purchase price may not be to everyone's liking.
- Do you remember your childhood and the little bars of soap in the chest-of-drawers? Our grandmothers knew how to help! Soap is always a good idea, but if you want an intense fragrance, go for sachets with washing powder or scented balls. Then arrange the sachets in your wardrobe with your clothes and laundry.
- Fragrant oil also works wonders. Aromatic essential oils are notable for their intensity and gradual release. Just put a few drops of oil on a handkerchief or on a dish sponge cut into cubes. Then hide them in a breathable bag (old classic or nylon socks will do).
- A well-dried orange or lemon will also give your clothes a subtle, unobtrusive scent. You can also place cinnamon sticks on the shelves in your closet.
